H. McKenzie serves as the Assistant Chief of Police and brings more than 27 years of distinguished experience in law enforcement and fire investigations. His career spans multiple specialized areas, beginning in Patrol, where he developed a strong foundation in community policing and public safety. He later advanced to Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) enforcement, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and then to Narcotics, conducting complex investigations into illegal drug activity. His expertise further expanded in Criminal Investigations, where he managed major cases with precision and integrity.
In addition to his law enforcement background, McKenzie is highly skilled in Arson Investigations, applying scientific methodologies to determine fire origins and causes. He holds the Fire Investigation Technician (FIT) certification through the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), underscoring his technical proficiency and commitment to professional standards.
McKenzie is also a General Instructor for law enforcement, certified to train officers in core policing principles, investigative strategies, and leadership development. His instructional experience and ability to translate complex concepts into practical applications have made him a respected mentor and educator within the profession.
Beyond his operational and training roles, McKenzie is an author and subject matter expert, dedicated to producing professional guidebooks and educational resources for law enforcement agencies.
